Mukesh’s father being a daily wage labourer, the household income wasn’t always predictable, and so earning a livelihood took priority over education in Mukesh's formative years. After working as a labourer and then a security guard posted at Jana Small Finance Bank, his lack of formal education made him hesitate to apply for a banking job. Yet, Jana Small Finance Bank believed in him despite the lack of educational credentials. The friendly, supportive co-workers were particularly of help when his mother was diagnosed with cancer, and for that, he is grateful. He feels that Jana Small Finance Bank is not just an organisation, but a big family.
